EYE HEALTH:
The human eye is a tremendous organ that works so efficiently for the most part that we take it for granted until something goes wrong.
Tears – protect, give clarity and have healing ability. There are age effects
Cornea – protection and vision. Dangers to the cornea come from UV, chemicals, and injury
Lens – Allows us to change working distances and stay in focus. Affected by UV and age (cataracts)
Retina – light sensitive layer that provides image to the brain. Affected by age, injury, general health conditions (Diabetes, blood pressure) and specific eye problems like glaucoma, macular changes and detachments. Diet can have a long term effect.
Protect your eyes by maintaining a good diet, using sunglasses and hats, protective eyewear for sport, hobbies and work, and regular eye examinations for the early symptomless signs and changes.

Make an appointment as soon as practical if you experience:
Recurrent headaches, transient blur, tiredness (especially after using your eyes), small number of floaters without flashes, lack of concentration. Teary eyes or discharge.
